Entry requirements

  • You must be a currently enrolled tertiary student, studying at any Australian or International university and have completed two full years of study (96 units or equivalent). You may be either an undergraduate or a graduate student from any discipline.
  •  You are responsible for ensuring the classes in which you enrol will count towards your degree program requirements. If you are not sure of your program requirements you should check with:
    ANU Students- your ANU College/School/Program office. More information can be found at 'Managing your Program' on the ANU website.
    Non ANU students - the Cross Institutional Approval Form is required (see below)
  • Prospective Interns must not arrange their own placement.
  • Entry to the program is competitive and places are limited. Offers will made according to strength of application including academic merit and placement availability.

    Please note: there is a strict protocol that needs to be followed for all potential Interns. You must not approach any organisation or individual in an attempt to facilitate your own placement.

How to apply 

Applications for Semester 2 2015 close Monday 27  April 2015.

You need to submit the following documentation. It is not essential to submit as one package.

  • ANIP Application Form

    [Cross-Institutional students (where the courses taken at ANU count towards a degree at another Australian university) must complete the Application for Cross Institutional Studies (see below) in addition to the ANIP Application Form]

  • Statement
    500 word statement on why you are applying and what you hope to achieve as an intern.
  • Resume/CV
    Resume/curriculum vitae outlining your educational and other qualifications i.e. work experience and other interests (no referee details).
  • Transcript
    Current original official transcript of all your academic results (you can update current semester results later). If applying to postgraduate course provide a copy of undergraduate transcript also.
    ANU students can download a Statement of Results from ISIS.
  • Referee Report
    Three referee reports (at least two of these must be academic referees and can be from lecturers, tutors). Reports must be written on the ANIP Referee Report (543KB PDF). It is your responsibility to either download the form and provide a copy to each of your nominated referees or ask the referee to email the form to Forms are to be returned by the closing date for applications.

Please note: Supporting documents should be submitted electronically to by the due date above.
Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Non-ANU domestic students

As a Cross Institutional student an application to study at ANU is also required. You must complete and return the form to the Admissions Office.

Exchange students or Study Abroad students who are interested in applying to ANIP, please refer to the ANU application process webpage for all application details. You are required to submit the above ANIP documentation in addition to the documentation required for student mobility.
